In 2012, the Internet Society of Armenia applied to the International Internet Society for a grant to create an Internet center for people with vision impairment in the Culture House of the Armenian Society of Blinds.

The International Internet Society awarded a 10,000 USD worth community grant and the Internet Society of Armenia added 2,500 USD. The grant period was one year.

With the grant funds two rooms were renovated – the center itself and a recreation room. The center is refurbished with 8 computers, printers and scanners, tables and office chairs.

Training at the center starts with acquaintance to the Windows 7 package. Further on, blinds and vision impaired persons learn how to work with documents, how to write and read texts with and without the help of magnifying function. They study JAWS, NVDA programs which allow them to operate with other computer programs. Blind and vision impaired persons are trained in using internet, which includes emails, navigation and information search, etc. Also, they acquire skills of using other equipment available in the center.

Both the training and internet center
